To the Lighthouse
Oh I forgot to add:
1) I already read Dorian Grey, so I can't this time.
2) I also have to read The Invisible Man over break, so a short one if you can.
3) Maybe a reason why you liked the book?
Some of these books are actually my favorites of all time (To the Lighthouse, Mrs. Dalloway, and A Passage to India). They're all easily readable within a week.
If you're into the concepts of communication, how people understand each other, the idea of knowing someone, and how thought works I'd suggest To the Lighthouse.
If you like to see how even things which seem trivial can be of great import, how much can actually happen within a day, and the influence of the past upon the future I'd suggest Mrs. Dalloway.
Reading Virginia Woolf is amazing and thought provoking. Her books aren't long, but they are crammed full of so many complex ideas which make you think things you'd never thought before. If you're into looking at the structure of a sentence, the flow of words, and the structure of fiction within modernity I'd go with one of her books.
However, if you're looking for something a bit easier to wrap your mind around I'd go with A Passage to India. It's much more plot based and is also beautifully written. Forster also brings to light many important concepts - like that of empirialism for example. It's a wonderful book but not as complex as either of Woolf's.
Hope this helps.
