Why not rebuild old wonders?
Why wont the countries rebuild the destroyed ancient wonders of the World?. Why wont egypt rebuilt the Lighthouse and Greece rebuilt the Colossus of the rhodes. Statue of Zeus, Handing gardens etc.
1/ Cost. Who would commit to the exorbitant funds necessary and the protracted time-frame for little short term return? Past civilisations had no time constraints or funds short-fall as now.
2/ Authenticity. Most of the plans, fine detailing and dimensions are lost in time. If not faithful reproductions, of what value would they be other than tacky tourist traps as in Las Vegas?
3/ Sanctity. Some achievements are best kept as memories with their fabled status intact to continually inspire rather than be diminished by re-creation.
