Where is there a good, remote, seaside, hotel in Scotland?

I am trying to find a good (yet affordable if possible!) hotel in a fairly remote area in scotland. Ideally it would be on the coast on or near a cliffside, the decor would be quite old (ie not very modern furnishings etc), open fire and all that. Even more ideal would be having a lighthouse in view though not necessary. Also an option would be inland but with great views. Can anyone help?

Gairloch in the Wester Ross. West side of Scotland is dramatic. I visited a few years ago. It's got a lovely beach and the cleanest sand. Go to the rocks at Melvaig on days like these (hot) and hopefully you will see THE biggest jelly fish you will ever see in your life, AND THERE IS A LIGHTHOUSE. We sat on huge boulders overlooking the sea. Breathtakingly beautiful memorable scenery. Not sure about cottages or hotels.

THIS WEB SITE IS TRULY THE BEST ONE. Even if you have never been to Scotland, you willl really wish you had after browsing. Take the time to really investigate via Undiscovered Scotland.

Happy Hunting. och aye!!! Hannah.
