Parents, as a nanny how much should I be making?
I am a nanny and only making $150 a week. I'm working 11 hours a day, 4 days a week. I am an early childhood education major... I have many references from families I worked for... I used to make $10 an hour. I drive the kids to and from school, drive them to the doctors, after school activities, etc. I get no reimbursement for gas. I also do lighthouse work. I have done their laundry though. I'm quitting and want to be able to explain to her that she isn't going to keep a nanny if she pays so little and asks for so much (thats wasn't agreed upon when I first got hired).
Well you should research the going rates in your area and then present it to her and ask for a raise in pay and explain why you feel you should be paid more.
I am a nanny and I make $467. a week working 42 1/2 hours per week at $11 per hour. I care for twin one year old boys. I do light housework and laundry as well but I do that on my own while they are sleeping it was not agreed upon as part of my pay, I just do it to be nice and keep busy while the boys are sleeping.
I would discuss the issue with your family and see if it can be resolved before quitting because you want to continue to build a good reference base. Good Luck
