I messed up on my painting, now what do I do?
This is what my painting looked like before http://www.flickr.com/photos/carrierox4ever13/3101495048/ I loved how the sky looked and I the water. Well then today I went to paint more detail into the light coming from the lighthouse and I messed up. So to cover the yellow mess up I tried to fix it by painting the sky purple again and this is what I ended up with: http://www.flickr.com/photos/carrierox4ever13/3102826577/ I also got a purple fingerprint in the water so how do I fix that without messing up my water

It is acrylic paint
I have a question first. What medium is this? Oil, Acrylic? What you are going to have to do is paint back in the backgrounds of the areas with the mistakes, wait for them to dry completely and repaint what you want over them. One thing you should know is that most paints are somewhat transparent. There are some colors that are more opaque than others, but most paints are effected by the colors below them so painting over that dark purple with a light color is going to be hard. What you might want to do, even though this takes more patience is to paint the area you want to be the light from the light house in white first (only after purple is completely dry) like when you prime walls with white before paining them with a new color. If you paint with white and then let that dry and finally add your lighter color it will pop more like you wanted.
