San Diego- Second Largest City of California
The city of San Diego along the west coast of the US is noted for its sunny beaches, beautiful skyline and great weather. In this second-largest city of California and the fifth wealthiest state in the US it makes perfect good sense to stay at a beach resort. Perhaps the most sought after of beach resorts, or at least among the most highly-rated, in the city is the Catamaran Resort Hotel with its over-300 sumptuous guest rooms and gorgeous luxury spa. Most guestrooms of this luxury hotel look out on to the lovely La Jolla coastline or the Mexican Islands.
As for the luxury spa, it is seen as a center for awakening one’s senses thanks to a la mode skin treatments, massages, and water therapies. This beautiful luxury hotel also offers a great dining experience in its Atoll Restaurant which happens to be the winner of the San Diego Convention & Visitor's Bureau Finest Service Award.
Stepping away from your luxury hotel as soon as you can may be a good idea as San Diego is such a fun place with attractions galore. Lovers of the sea, sand, sunshine, and adventure should make their way towards the Sea World where they can get to see a dizzying 4 D movie, the Haunted Lighthouse. They can also play with dolphins and say ‘hello’ to a polar bear and rush through the waters of the Shamu.
For true scenic pleasure, the town of La Jolla beckons like none does. Gorgeous sun-drenched beaches, lovely walks, and great restaurants make your visit truly pleasurable. But then, of course, San Diego has something like 30 beaches to choose from. Among the best known is the Coronado Beach which has been hailed as being among America’s top ten beaches.
For extraordinary faunal diversity do check out the San Diego Zoo with it’s over 4,000 species of reptiles, birds, and mammals.
The city has something to offer everybody, including the artistically inclined. The Art for Wildlife Galleries at Coronado, for instance, is a sheer tribute to faunal splendor and majesty. The Fingerhut Gallery in La Jolla showcases masterpieces spanning some 50 years, masterpieces by Picasso, Chagall, and Matisse, to name just a few.
The artistic offerings are not limited to adults, however as the Museo de los Ninos on West Land Avenue testifies. Here, children are encouraged to cultivate their creativity and originality in a highly conducive setting.
Most visitors come away enthralled by the Gaslamp Historical Quarter Foundation on 410 Island Avenue that takes them on a dramatic and well-told historical tour. Among the highlights of the Foundation are its well-tended museum gallery and patio park.
And if you want to get away from it all, we suggest you visit the Japanese Friendship Garden, especially its Tea Pavilion inside the Balboa Park which houses exquisite art exhibits from Japan and a kopi pond.
There are many forms of transport available to get around the city including the light rail, bus and car. Of the three, getting around by car is the most recommended in a city that is huge, sprawling, and varied. Have a great time!
