lighthouses halifax
beaches in Canada?

is there any beach worth to visit in canada?? I mean everytime i google for pics of canadain beaches all i see is desertic beaches with no people, just lighthouses and bushes here and there. I'll be in canada next month just have to decide between Halifax or Vanvouver.
Is there any hot spot to spend the summer in those areas and any "real" beach to surf and get some tanning?
Suggestions please. (not lake beaches).

Arguably, the best place to surf in Canada is Tofino on Vancouver Island. But if you are looking for "real" beaches with a beach atmosphere, I would recommend lake beaches. Wasaga Beach on Georgian Bay in Ontario is the largest freshwater beach in the world. About 2 hours west of that is Sauble Beach. This is one the premier beaches in the whole country. Having been there, it can be considered an actual hot spot. Both of these beaches definately have loads of people in the summer, and are at least 4 miles long on the coasts. They are located about 2 to 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. Hope this helps!
