What would be a good travel plan through Scotland in roughly four days?
Me and my friend have four days to spend in Scotland leaving from Newcastle, UK (hopefully) the night of Aug. 8 and returning to Newcastle, UK on the evening or night of Aug. 12.
Here is what we would like to do in this time frame:
We would like to see the Bell Rock Lighthouse near (or in?) Arbroath. This shouldn't take long. We would head to our next destination promptly.
Then we would like to spend a day or day and half at Loch Ness.
From there we would like to go to the Glen Coe Highlands and hike on or around Ben Nevis.
From there we would like to go up the Orkney Islands and spend a day there.
Now, the lighthouse could be seen at the beginning OR the end of our trip. But it's the last of our priorities. Would anyone kindly give me and my friend a good travel outline and let us know how this could work out?
I agree that what you are trying to do is an awful lot in such a small time scale, to save time though, why not take the overnight ferry from Aberdeen to Orkney therefore the journey could be - Newcastle to Arbroath, onto Aberdeen for the ferry to kirkwall, take the ferry back to Scrabster and drive down the A9. Once in Inverness take the A82 to Fort William passing Loch Ness on the way. Head to Glasgow from Fort William taking you through Glen Coe. (You could also travel back to Aberdeen overnight on the ferry and travel from Aberdeen to Inverness by road before continuing as described).
