As a hero of the Second War of Independence, President Andrew Johnson appointed me lighthouse keeper?

As a hero of the Second War of Independence, President Andrew Johnson, who was also a hero of that war, appointed me a lighthouse keeper. In my home state, where I was a lighthouse keeper, the state named two towns after me and both of those towns town erected a statue of me in my honor. The mid-Atlantic lighthouse I served at until my death is no longer standing. I also built the first ship of its kind in my state and a plaque was erected to commemorate that happening. What is my name and what lighthouse was I a keeper at?

I'm wondering if you meant the War of 1812 and Andrew Jackson. Andrew Johnson could hardly be considered a hero of either the War of 1812, or the Second War for Independence, a name southerners came up with to call the Civil War.(justly so, in my opinion.
I wonder if you mean Duncan Stewart? The Bombay Hook Lighthouse in Georgia was constructed by the U.S. Government in 1829. In 1830, former Governor of Delaware Jacob Stout, laid out the road between Bombay Hook Lighthouse and Smyrna. In 1831, President Andrew Jackson and his Secretary of Treasury, Louis McLane, appointed Stewart as the Bombay Hook Lighthouse Keeper. In 1850, Duncan's daughter, Margaret Stewart, was appointed to her father's position. Bombay Hook Lighthouse In September of 1912, the lighthouse was "discontinued" and an unmanned light was installed at Smyrna Range Light. In the early 1970's vandals burned the abandoned structure.
