are all stream of consciousness books boring?

The 2 names I know for this genre are James Joyce and Virginia Woolf.

To the Lighthouse was boring, gave up after 40 pages. And I just read many reviews saying that Portrait of a Young Man is boring too. I tried reading Ulysses (by Joyce) once but gave up after 100 pages, realizing I hardly absorbed anything. I wouldn't conclude that Ulysses is boring from my 100 pages, but just out of my league.

I'm just a regular reader who wants to complete reading a book of the stream of consciousness genre. Something interesting. I'm not a literature Ph.D candidate. Can anyone recommend something?

Never attempt Proust, then. Ha ha...I don't think they're boring, I guess it's just a different taste issue. Oh well, read what you enjoy.
