Lighthouses Still Standing
lighthouses still standing
What say you to a seaside poem?
"Still Drawn by Dying Light"
Denied tomorrow,
stretched thin, limited, landlocked.
This heart has not forgotten,
eternal You; sweet spectre,
the caress, the bullet, the truth.
Silver for secrets,
blue for the ocean away.
On distant coastlines,
scarlet shade obscures your face;
walls you tore down for me
build on each crashing wave.
First rebel memory,
lighthouse longings.
Do you watch it even now,
willing our ocean souls together?
Light dies, I still see you
standing on the rocky coast.
Torn asunder long ago,
broken but pulled ever forward.
Eternally ensnared,
one violent kiss and a silent siren.
I want you to understand that although I remain silent, I have followed your poetry faithfully, drawn always into the vortex of emotion and artistry. But this one, for some reason , I must break my silence....the reference to the "silent siren" hit me full force. You are a consummate poet, a skilled painter with words, and I appreciate and treasure these gifts of your words.
