What clothes should I pack if I'm going to California next week?
We'll be in the car a lot, wandering round San Fran a lot, spending a few days in Big Sur staying in a tent/hut type thing, going whale-watching, going to Monterey aquarium, Bodega Bay and Point Reyes lighthouse, usual tourist stuff I suppose. What's the weather like at the moment (it looks pretty hot and dry to me going off weather forecasts from the web). I was thinking jeans, sleeveless tops and open shirt over the top, that sort of thing. I've heard the temperature can vary wildly from one part of California to another, is that right? Is it at all fall/autumn- y at the moment- kind of seems like the middle of a hot summer to me but I might be wrong. Anyway, what do you suggest I pack/take with me (is insect repellent necessary? do I need suntan lotion? etc etc). Thanks in advance for your answers.
Most of the places you are going to are along the coast. So bring both shorts and long pants and probably a hoodie or a jacket too. It can vary from the 50's to the 80's this time of the year. Some places inland like Napa Valley can be as hot as 100 degrees next week. Layering is the best way to go. Good thing is I think this is the best time of the year around California.
