Need help. Precalculus problem dealing with angle of depression?
Find the angle of depression from the top of a lighthouse 285 feet above water level to the water line of a ship 2½ miles offshore.

if u take the system as a right triangle with height = 285 feet and base = 2.5 miles = 13200 feet
u can use tan(theta) = 285/13200 = 0.0216 (approx)
then u have theta = angle of depression = 1.237 degrees
