Every dawn and sunset looking through our lighthouse
When sea-water crashed upon the rocks
You and I sat at the edge of our world
We were high school lovers, with our hands on our hearts.
We flew to those winding staircases every summer’s day
Racing to the top of seclusion
Back then, time was on our side
My hands were not wrinkled, my eyes not old and wise
Your laughter hasn’t become old
But your kiss just moments in the past
At our home by the sea
My love for you emerges
Whenever I accept the caress of the sea
The reminiscing and the truth of your winters passing
Ease the mist of forever's goodbye
We are our simple laugh-filled memories and my dreams of the past.
like this & your sea-imagery is very soothing.Only crit is that the sea ebbs& flows,whereas your love is constant.
I get the impression of the woman trying to revive the man's love in the wake of a normal,maybe dull life.It's not that the man's love has gone,just that like many men he has forgotten to show it.e.g.his kiss is"just moments in the past."
Or is it possible that the man is dead?--"forever's goodbye"
I get a different reading every time.Sign of a good,sensitive piece of writing.
