Some of the mammals you will encounter include black buck, antelope, jackal, chital, spotted deer, pangolin, large Indian civet, jungle cats, river otters, fox, and hyenas.
Birds also love the national park and if you are lucky enough you may just catch a glimpse of one of these beautiful birds which includes quail, parrots, partridges, pheasants, fly catchers, honey buzzard and many more.
Just a short distance from the Guindy National Park is the Guindy Snake Park which is home to pythons, vipers, the King Cobra, and other reptiles. A children's park is also nearby where the kids can enjoy seeing such animals as the cockatiel, bonnet monkey, cormorant, porcupine, and more.
History can be found at such attractions as the Fort St. George which was built in 1640AD. This was the first fortress that displayed British power in India. St. Mary’s Church built in 1678 to 1680 was the first English church in Chennai.
Other historical attractions include the Kalakshetra which was built in 1936 and founded by Rukmini Devi Arundale which is home to classical dance, weaving, and music. Little Mount is a cave in which it is believed that St. Thomas lived here when he first arrived in India about 58AD. The entrance to the cave is found in the Portuguese Church built in 1551.
George Town as well as the beach may be the most popular holiday destinations in Chennai. In George Town you will be able to enjoy Popham’s Broadway, Roman Catholic Cathedral, St Mary of the Angels, Parry's Corner, High Court, Central Tower, Esplanade Lighthouse, Pachaiyappa's Hall, Chepauk Palace, and the Art Gallery at Panheon Road.
