Massachusetts, can you help me decide?
I'm planning a trip for my big 3-0 this October, since I love the fall and the New England life still. I've decide to go to Massachusetts! I wanna see the ocean, lighthouses, see the foliage tours. Eat great seafood, and just relax. My problem is I have no idea where to go in Massachusetts. Im planning on rented a car so I have no problem in driving anywhere. One of my stops would love to be Salem, since my birthday falls near Halloween, it's always been a Halloween BD for me.
I've tried there Office of Tourism, but who else would know better where to go, then the own people of there state. Im looking at a 4-day weekend. Just me and my husband. People of the Great State of Massachusetts, help me where to go.
If your going to hit salem, there plenty of nice beaches and costal area on teh north shore around gloucester beverly ect. Dont get seafood at any chain resturant, go to any local place and your bound to enjoy it. Staying somewhere in the Glouster area you would only be a 1 hour drive away from boston. In boston, theres plent of historical sites(duck tours hit most of them, freedom trail) , museums (mfa,museum of science) , ect. Going to massachusetts and not seeing boston is like eating a sandwich with no meat. October is an upredictable month weather wise so plan accordingly. You could also stay on the south shore north of cape cod int eh plymouth, area where theres a lot of history, beaches, seafood, plymouth rock ect. The drive to boston would be a little bit more trafficy though, and youd be farther away from salem.
