Do you remember high school? Remember that friend, coach, parent or teacher that had the greatest impact on your life. Many people stand out in my mind that influenced me. With out these people I would have no plumb line to which I could measure the progress of my character, no standard of behavior. These people are guiding lights in our lives. Lighthouses from which come the radiance of truth. They are servant leaders who lead by serving.
We admire these people and do the best we can to emulate them. We read, study, and analyze them to figure out what makes them tick, so we can recreate our behaviors into theirs. There is nothing stronger than a person desiring something greater than themselves. An existence that has relevant meaning, purpose, and character. We are all called to be that example, to be that light house for others as they pass through the raging seas of life, but few actually step up to the plate. There are many leaders out the in the world today. Leaders that pursue personal gain. Leaders that use their leadership as a means of satisfying self, but to be a servant leader one must put the followers first. Servant leadership is the essence of a role model. Humility, selflessness, faithfulness are all attribute of such people. This is the person I want to become.
My ideal job, one that I would dream for is simply this, to inspire, motivate, and equip servant leaders, to devastate this world with love. I want to take the world’s lies and replace them with the truth, the slothfulness into productivity, the anger into peace, and the hatred into love. I want my life to make a difference within this world. I do not want to sit back and enjoy a job with a good salary and benefits that adds up to nothing as far as real differences made in people’s lives. I want to work the soil in people’s hearts to grow a bountiful crop of righteousness in young people’s lives. To do this I believe that I need to be an educator. A teacher that proves to students that the heavens are attainable for them if only they could reach up instead of down. If they could only believe that we are all meant to accomplish great things not just Michael Jordan and other famous people. If they would stop be baffled by Donald Trump’s riches, and start discovering the treasures that lie within them. They need to stop being so mesmerized by the T.V. figures and start getting mesmerized by the figure God has made within themselves.
I want the responsibility to be able to give to the youth of this world. I want them to realize that they are the wonders that this world has never seen. That Donald Trump and Michael Jordan have done nothing that measures up to who they are. This is my dream job, a career that I will pursue passionately.
