To begin with, that I was skeptical about this film. First, it is doubted at the expense of accurate depiction of life of those times, Alexandria, Egypt, the era of extinction of the Roman Empire and the flourishing of Christianity. R complicated and ambiguous. While watching it dawned on me that this film is superb! Excels at least that gives reason to remind everyone of the need for religious tolerance and harmony. Kohl, we did not learn from their mistakes, we will have to repeat them. And after watching, think how many parallels can be made with our day. But virtually nothing has changed! The scale of steel other means have changed. But human nature remains the same. History indeed repeats itself.
The crowd was divided into denominations, led by leaders psevdoliderami and faces a silly ideological feuds. But no one there thought to wonder for what all of this. No one, except for Hypatia. Frankly, I think is a fictional character. It turned out there. Moreover, about life and death of this scholar and philosopher rather accurately the film and tells.
Sadly, when because of religious strife friends betray friends, the son kills his father and brother did not spare his sister. Up until not a stone remains. While watched the movie, I have had the thought, how much far advanced to human civilization, not destroy it with surprising regularity knowledge accumulated by past generations. Submit impossible. And once again - perhaps this is not happening the same thing? Alas.
The shooting took place in Malta, and landscapes that they need. Plus computer refinement of the landscape - and we admire the wonder of the world Lighthouse of Alexandria. The film is clearly a success. It is quite entertaining and does not tire even stronger in the history of the viewer. But, undoubtedly, a man of more than or less familiar with this period of human history, it will be much more interesting to dive during the conquest of people's Christianity.
In conclusion, and casting. It seemed to me - good. Hypatia such a quiet woman with a bright head and mind, it certainly simpatiziruesh. While historians argue about the relevance of those events, just take the time to thoughtfully see this movie.
