One book to rule them all?
Well, I'm looking for more than a must-read book, but one that best summarizes our endeavors in life. I consider myself as a big reader, and have about 150 classics on my bookshelf. So, length isn't a difficulty here.
What I'm looking for is something like Ulysses by Joyce, something that summarizes life. I read once that The Brothers Karamazov has "everything you need to know about life," in it, and that's exactly what I'm looking for. No Philosophy (neitzsche) please. Here's a list of a couple of my favorites:

Shakespeare's works cover everything. If you want humor, try Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker "Trilogy". Eliot's poems, especially if you enjoyed Ulysses.
