what song should i use for this project?
Ok, so i am doing a ghost project and it is about 'Annie of the lighthouse' so i am looking for a GOOD song (preferably hip-hop) that talks about 'annie' or 'lighthouses' or dads and daughters and daughter dying or trying to save a loved one. SOMETHING. NOT The Band- Take a load off Annie OR any songs from Annie the musical. Something that a highschool history class would appriciate.
oh and please have very minimal cussing or a clean version. thanx!
inside my mind (blue skies) - Groove Armada it starts off with waves a trumpet, its a nice soft downtempo song with echoy singing. should do it nicely.

The Lighthouse Within
The Lighthouse Within
I wonder how often we tend to struggle for more in spite of having everything in our life. Contentment seems out of question and we hate the lives and careers we lead. Our desire to outperform others together with an ever increasing work load and the traffic mayhem is certainly endless. As a result, we run around temples and retreats in search of peace. The struggle is similar to that of a boat sailing in the rough sea in the night. In spite of having gadgets, the boat still looks for the lighthouse to guide it to the shores. With a smoked screened mind, we fail to touch base with our existence. Little do we realize that we are the actor and director of - ‘our life’? We hardly know our actual which is the manifestation of the real us- ‘the lighthouse within’. Constant oscillations from one desire to another leads us to a state of emotional stress. With the voice within and the noise outside, our mind constantly craves for a balance and silence.
Our mother, this life’s first master initiates us to our karmic journey. Her patronage conditions our mind to the exterior imagery at a tender age and rest becomes history. In the ages and stages that we grow, rarely are we shown the path to discover the lighthouse within. This spirit within cannot be seen or touched but can surely be felt through our experiences. Unfortunately we do not realize, since we look for happiness externally. Material makes us colour blind overlooking the inner peace. People may be mighty riches outside yet may be mighty rags within. The lighthouse within thus rarely gets switched on. In times of test and sufferings, we frantically look for an exterior master for ready help and mitigation. We can mitigate our sufferings if we realize that we are indeed our own masters. We just need will to change. The lighthouse within can be invoked if we are honest and pure in thoughts.
Our lighthouse is like a life guard that saves us through the troubled waters. Our problems are a result of emotional responses to our day to day experiences. These responses at times are at variance with our life as a learning experience. Often as read and understood, life is not always a pleasant experience. We spend most of our time remembering yesterday or worrying for tomorrow. Why can’t we focus on the present where all the actions take place? Our religious scriptures suggest that God created us to be happy and peaceful. Unfortunately we tend to forget this guiding principle while walking on the path towards madness. Our conscious mind generates actions that are the driving force of our mental and emotional miseries. However, these actions are opposite to and against the sermons of our lighthouse within. Switching on the lighthouse within hence becomes all the more important. Some of us walk an extra mile by helping the needy and under privileged. This is the state of self actualization and enlightenment and leads us to understand our real existence.
Incorporate Change
Norman Vincent Peale once said, “Change your thoughts and you change your world”. Change is like the waves in the ocean. It initially causes uncertainties in our routine. With constant practice, we no longer oppose because of the end result.
Satisfaction: A satisfaction today leads to dissatisfaction tomorrow. Focus on the necessities attainable through hard work and honesty. Compete in benevolence and not in material. A saint once said, ‘I cried for boots until I saw a man who had no legs’.
Mind SWOT: A periodical mind SWOT helps. For example if a derogatory remark is passed. Take a mental pause and analyse the remark .Observe the feelings and assess our resultant reaction.
Mental Demarcation: Lama Thubten Yeshe suggests, “The greatest problems of humanity are psychological, not material.” However, I feel material plays a bigger role in our sufferings. Material no doubt is necessary for acquiring a reasonable comfort level. Draw a mental demarcation between the need and satisfaction level.
Self Image: Build mutual sincerity and faith. Create an aura of positive energy. Milton Berle advocates,“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”. Learn to love others for their benevolence.
Accept Failures: Success without obstacles leads to ego and greed. Failure gives an opportunity to assess the cause and brings in humbleness and alternatives
Reconnect: Excess material sets in individualism and self centeredness. It distances us from our roots, and diminishes value systems. Reconnect by sharing emotions and renewing relationships. Reach out in person/ telephonically /e-mail and share problems.
Lust: Evaluate the thought of perversion and its origin. Control by focusing on the opposite. For example, if we desire to have sex with a particular person. Think reverse -person to be dreadful/shabby looking etc. Build a mental photo frame. Prefer a less spicy vegetarian food. Increase the intake of curd, water and lemon.
Deep breathing: It is a self-control technique reducing the anger.
Incorporate the changes and gradually start receiving positive signals from within. Catch these vibrations and apply wisdom to decide the course of action. Every thought is like a seed; germinate it in a positive direction. Realizing this slowly tunes us to the lighthouse within.
