Up in the northeast corner of the United States, located on top of the island made its own little barren rock, is the island of Faro sequins. This lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Kennebec River in Georgetown, Maine, is the second lighthouse ever built in Maine and is one of the oldest in the SU The small island of rock, located in an area that is often shrouded in fog - an average of 2,734 hours of fog every year - and hammered by the cold winds, seemed to have been created by nature for the port of a lighthouse.

Merchants submitted the petition to the lighthouse in 1786, but the government ordered the lighthouse built until 1795. Once the president George Washington gave the order, The construction of the lighthouse has begun and the project was completed in 1797 at a cost of $ 6,300.

Sequin Island Lighthouse holds the title high above the lighthouse in Maine, measuring a little over 180 meters above sea level. The fixed and non-flashing is visible to ships of up to 40 miles. Due to the high frequency of fog in the area, the lighthouse is equipped with a cusp of the most powerful ever built. The original structure was replaced in 1820 and again in 1857, when they built the present structure. The light is still controlled manually until it is fully automated in 1985.

The history of the station's flagship Seguin is full of strange and tragic stories.
One is the first lighthouse keeper died penniless and without a boat on the island. Some say that his ghost has haunted the keepers who came after him. There were comments of a ghost who has been named the "old master". It is generally considered up the stairs of the tower as if the game tend to rise to the light.

One night, antique furniture were removed from the premesis. Apparently the man in charge of the crew, furniture removals has awakened the middle of the night by the "old master" who was not asked to take the furniture and leave home alone. The man did not accept the request and the next day after the furniture had been loaded onto a boat and immersed in water, mysteriously broken cable. The boat and all that fell into the rocks below and broke into pieces. It seems the "Old Captain" got his way after all.

Another frequent observation is that of a young woman walks up and down stairs and waving to those who see it. It has also been heard laughing and bouncing a ball upstairs bedroom. History shows that a girl died on the island and was buried near the lighthouse.

Perhaps the most tragic incident that took place on the island is a former superintendent of the mid-1800s that crazed and killed his wife, then took off life. Legend caretaker brought his wife to live with him in the lighthouse, shortly after marrying. Since the passage of time, became depressed and sad and bought a piano for help lift her spirits.

Unfortunately, the music store and had to play music. Since there was only one piece of sheet music in the island, played the same song again and again until her husband finally took an ax to the piano for her, then killed himself.

The passing ships reported that in light of the island piano can be heard floating over the waves still, quiet night.

Additional accounts of the paranormal include opening and closing the doors on their own, mysterious cold spots, coats thrown on the floor, tools disappearing and reappearing at random, and coughing from an unseen source.

The Sequin Island Lighthouse is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and is accessible by boat from Bath, Popham Beach, or Boothbay Harbor.
