Book selection for my AP Lit class...?
My AP Lit teacher is making us read a book over Christmas break (meanie!) but we get to choose it from a list. I've narrowed it down, but I was wondering what other people thought of them or what they would choose. The ones I'm down to are:
Catch 22
A Farewell to Arms
The Great Gatsby
The Scarlet Letter
The Turn of the Screw
To the Lighthouse
I loved the book A Separate Peace, and I also really like All Quiet on the Western Front, Pride and Prejudice, and The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Any help is appreciated! =]
The only one I've read is The Scarlet Letter. It uses a lot of symbolism doesn't include much dialoug. But when there is dialouge it is very intense and passionate. It talks mostsly about what they're thinking but its interesting to see how their minds work because all three of the maon characters are very shrewd and clever. It is a good book and I would reccomend it.
