I don't know about going inside a lighthouse, but the Rockland lighthouse is wonderful. You hike out about 1/2 a mile on the breakwater. Go during the summer and you will see lobster boats, sail boats, and so much more. The Owl's Head lighthouse is nearby too; great view.
