Why don't the neighbors like my lighthouse?
It is in my front yard. I only run the turning light and the fog horn on the weekend. It is really a sweet little decoration, But I got these angry notes calling me a selfish A whole and lot of other things.
Not to be offensive or anything, but it sounds like your neighbors didn't like you to begin with....
I would assume that they would have found a more polite way to let you know this was bothering them. If they've already asked you kindly, or let you know that it's disturbing them then it's poor manners to leave it running.
I understand that it IS the weekend, & you love it, it's YOUR property, probably NOT illegal (noise violation/etc), BUT if you were a considerate neighbor then you would genuinely want to keep your neighbors in mind. While you have no obligation to make your neighbors happy, it would not be smart to piss off all of your neighbors. If you don't want to have to worry about being considerate to others ever/at all, then move to the country, not a neighborhood where other people live also. Maybe you could just run it one night a week & I would DEFINATELY stop the "fog horn" noises. I don't care how loud/quite the "fog horn" is, that IS just downright considerate. But as far as the lights go, your neighbors CAN just close their curtains, blinds, etc.
All this said, if your neighbors DIDN'T speak to you KINDLY before hand, and you're not generally a disrpectful neighbor (or "mysteriously" hated on your block), then your neighbor miiiiiiiight just have a stick stuck up his a&$....
(but if SEVERAL neighbors wrote notes it's obviously a true bother to all of your neighbors & I would exercise consideration for your neighbors before you become the block's most hated).
